AYER -- Attention, municipal plow drivers. Whether you are a town employee or a contractor, you may no longer be able to light up a cigarette behind the wheel while on the job come January. The Board of Health is considering banning smoking on and inside all town-owned property, including municipal vehicles.

AYER - Student attendance monitoring over the last week and a half shows some "interesting numbers," interim Superintendent George Frost told the School Committee at its Oct. 28 meeting. Mostly, those numbers are happily at odds with news reports that the H1N1 virus, or swine flu, has hit the region and its schools.
